Film Transfer

Sprockets is one of only a small number of UK companies equipped to convert all major formats of professional cine film to DVD, digital videotape, or external hard drive for production, preservation and archiving.

Sprockets use a CINTEL flying spot TELECINE film scanner to digitise professional cine film to the standard required for broadcast. We can transfer 35mm with interlocked magnetic sound, 16mm and Super16mm with interlocked magnetic and optical sound.

The sprocket-less continuous motion capstan drive is gentle to precious old film with sprocket damage, resulting in stable pictures even from warped or badly stretched film.

Our Air Blast and liquid cleaning process eliminates much of the surface dust caused by static, and optically masks most scratches caused by projecting the film.

We check, clean and repair film prior to transfer. After transfer, we can provide audio sweetening, image stabilisation, video noise reduction and colour correction in post-production.

Transfer media options: Betacam SP, DVCAM, MiniDV, DVD, AVI as well as Flash and Quicktime for viewing on the Internet.
